A Month Abroad,

A Life-long Impact

Studying abroad in some distant, unknown territory has a profound effect on the development of a more culturally-intuned self. However, actually achieving this global perspective on life is hard to do unless you fully emerse yourself into the culture and experience, not just see, the sights, people, and traditions of a foreign country. Well, that is exactly what I did for five weeks in Ireland this summer: I fully engaged with the visual, literary, and actual landscapes of the Emerald Island.

From discovering the beauty of the streets of Dublin and Galway, to being taken back by the sublime scenery of Achill and Allihies, my time abroad has help me appreciate by Irish heritage on a whole new level. It was hard to tell while across the pond, but after my return to the United States I realize just how influential this experience was and how much I learned as a student, traveler, and a person. Hopefully, I will get the chance to return one day!
